Tuna Melt Sandwich

A classic American sandwich, reimagined with proper sourdough.

Tuna Salad

Sandwich

• 4 slices sourdough bread

• 2 slices medium cheddar cheese• 2 tablespoons butter

Method

  1. In a bowl, add the drained tuna, mayo, celery, red onion, Dijon mustard, lemon juice, salt and pepper. Use a fork to flake the tuna apart and mix until well combined.
  2. Butter one side of each slice of bread. Spread the tuna salad evenly over the non-buttered slices of bread. Top with 1 or 2 slices of cheese and close with the sandwich, buttered sides facing outwards.
  3. Heat a large pan over medium-low heat. Add the sandwiches to the pan, cover with a lid, and cook for about 3-4 minutes. Using a spatula, turn the sandwiches to the other buttered side and cook for another 3-4 minutes or until the cheese is melted and the bread is crispy and golden.
  4. Using a spatula, transfer the sandwiches to plates and cut in half. Enjoy!
