Perfect bread and cheese pairings

Bread and cheese — a classic combination that never fails to delight. But with so many delicious breads and cheeses to choose from, how do you find the perfect pairing? We’ve matched some of our favourite cheeses with the breads we bake, helping you create tasty bites that bring out the best in both.
1. White Country Loaf + creamy brie or camembert
Our White Country Loaf is a soft, moist sourdough with an airy crumb and signature tang. Its classic flavour is wonderfully versatile. Pair it with a creamy Brie or Camembert for a smooth, rich contrast that melts beautifully on the tangy bread.

Alternatively, you could try it toasted and topped with marmalade and parmesan.
2. Overnight Oat + mild cheddar or fresh ricotta
The wholesome Overnight Oat loaf offers a subtle nuttiness and dense texture thanks to soaked oats. It pairs beautifully with a mild, slightly sweet cheddar or a fresh, light ricotta for a nourishing breakfast or snack that’s both hearty and fresh.
3. Wheat and Rye + Smoked Gouda or Blue Cheese
Rustic with a nutty rye aroma and light crumb, our Wheat and Rye loaf stands up well to bold cheeses. Try it with smoky gouda or a tangy blue cheese to complement its hearty character and bring depth to your palate.
4. Seeded Sourdough + nutty gruyère or aged parmesan
Packed with seeds and Omega-3s, this nutty, hearty loaf shines with cheeses that have equally rich flavours. Gruyère or Aged Parmesan make excellent companions, adding complex notes that balance the bread’s texture and tang.

Remember to add nuts, olives and fruit like figs to your cheese board.
5. Wholewheat Loaf + sharp cheddar or goat cheese

Our dense Wholewheat loaf carries a subtle earthy flavour that pairs well with sharp cheddar for a bold taste or tangy goat cheese for a creamy, fresh contrast.
6. Small Tin Loaf + soft mozzarella or havarti
Light, fluffy, and mild, the Small Tin Loaf is perfect for little ones or those who prefer a gentler bread. Soft Mozzarella or creamy Havarti add mild, buttery flavours without overpowering this delicate loaf—ideal for simple sandwiches or toast.
7. Nordic Rye + smoked cheese or cream cheese with herbs
Dense and earthy with pumpkin seeds for crunch, Nordic Rye is great with cheeses that complement its bold character. Smoked cheese enhances its rustic vibe, while a fresh cream cheese blended with herbs brings a smooth, tangy lift.

8. Multigrain + feta or manchego
Hearty and packed with oats, seeds, and grains, our Multigrain loaf pairs wonderfully with salty, crumbly Feta or the nutty, slightly sweet Manchego. These cheeses add exciting texture and flavour to every bite.
9. Baguette + brie or comté
The crisp crust and soft crumb of a baguette make it a perfect partner for soft Brie or nutty comté. These cheeses melt nicely on warm baguette slices, ideal for entertaining or a simple snack.
10. Focaccia + mozzarella or burrata
Soft, creamy, and delicately mild, mozzarella or burrata pair effortlessly with the rich olive oil and saltiness of focaccia. Add a few slices of ripe tomato or a drizzle of olive oil for a simple, classic Italian bite. Prefer something heartier? Try one of our focaccia sandwich recipes.
11. Bagels + classic cream cheese and more
Our plain bagels are best known for pairing with the timeless combo of cream cheese and smoked salmon (or lox).
However, there are other great cheese combos for all our bagels:
- Plain Bagels: The versatile base for all kinds of cheese — go classic with plain cream cheese, or experiment with sharp cheddar, goat cheese, or even a tangy feta. For something with extra kick, try them with Homewrecker pimento cheese.
- Cinnamon and Raisin Bagels: Best with sweet, creamy cheeses like mascarpone or honey-drizzled cream cheese to complement the fruity, spiced notes.
- Everything Bagels: Classic cream cheese is a must, but try it with smoked cheddar or a herbed cream cheese spread for an extra punch.
- Poppy Seed & Sesame Seed Bagels: Both work well with mild cheeses like havarti or swiss, which won’t overpower the delicate nutty flavours of the seeds.

For something unexpected, pair plain bagels with a creamy blue cheese — the mild base lets the complex notes of the cheese shine.
