Over 24 million slices of bread are wasted every day in the UK! We believe that wasting good bread is a crime. At Good In Bread, we strive to do everything we can to keep bread-waste to a minimum. Of course, there are a lot more ways that we can improve, which is why we've created our #NoBreadLeftBehind campaign, so that we can hold ourselves accountable, all the way from the flour we use to the very last crumb.
Here are some of the steps we are taking to reduce bread-waste as much as we can!
- Baked to order:
All of our Sourdough products are baked to order, which helps to ensure that each loaf that gets baked has a home to go to.
- Partnering with Too Good To Go:
If something is left over, we’ve teamed up with Too Good To Go to give away any unwanted loaves at the end of our packing shift.
- Custom packaging:
- 'No Waste' Crouton & Breadcrumb recipes:
Not only are our ‘No Waste’ Garlic & Rosemary Sourdough Croutons & Breadcrumb recipes are a great way to repurpose your stale Sourdough bread but these fun bread bites can also act as a delicious and easy flavour enhancer to your salads and even soups we go into the winter months!
But in the fight to save the planet, we can do more if we work together!
We’ve put together some TOP TIPS FOR YOU so you can enjoy ALL OF YOUR BREAD, from the first bite to the very last crumb!
OPTIMAL LOAF PACKAGING - MAKE THE MOST OF YOUR CHOSEN PACKAGING!
- Sliced bread
If your loaf arrives pre-sliced, we recommend that you enjoy it within the first day and/or pop the remaining slices into the freezer in the bags provided for longer-lasting freshness.
- Unsliced bread
All of our subscribers would have received a linen loaf bag with their deliveries. We recommend you use these bags to store your loaves rather than leaving them out in the open.
